THE BLUE LIGHT FROM YOUR PHONES CAN HARM YOUR EYES

THE BLUE LIGHT FROM YOUR PHONES CAN HARM YOUR EYES

We all know that over – exposure to gadgets can really hurt our eyes. In fact, the blue light from our electronic devices has become much of a concern because the cornea and the lens cannot filter this, and will go straight to the back of our eyes.

You can read the full article from here.

Here’s what you can do to lessen its negative impact to our ‘windows’.

1. Use the 20/20/20 rule  – This means that you have to give your eyes a break every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, and looking at something which is 20 feet away.

2. Look for a light – reducing app – Yes, there are apps that can reduce the blue light from your phone. Or if you don’t want to download anything, just turn your phone into Nightshift mode.

Speaking of apps, you might want to use PeN. A new technology that can make your lives easier.

According to Yahoo News, a stranded elephant, which was 8 miles from the shore, was saved by the members of the Sri Lankan navy.

When the navy saw the animal, they immediately noticed how the elephant struggled to keep its trunk above the water. It was a 12 – hour mission and two additional boats helped in pulling back the massive animal.

After the rescue, the navy gave the elephant to wildlife officials before it was released to the wild.

A HONEYMOON TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE

A HONEYMOON TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE

The title of this post might give you an impression that a honeymoon becomes a nightmare when there’s an abuse from one party. Or maybe, you are thinking about how the couple was robbed in a different country.

But no, this story is a bit different. For a British blogger, Peony Lim, a very frightening event happened while they were on a honeymoon with her husband, Matthew.

Matthew needed to have an emergency appendix surgery, and the fact that the country speaks little English made it hard for the couple to understand and relay messages. But with Google Translate, things became easier.

“We are finally home and Matthew is making a good recovery. We are so grateful to all the kind staff at Ospedale Castelli Pronto Soccorso that cheerfully helped us patiently with the aid of Google translate!”

You can check her full IG post below.

I'm sorry I have been absent online recently. As you might have guessed from this photo a lot has happened. Meet my husband Matthew. It's been an emotional rollercoaster from the moment I met him 876 days ago. I didn't plan on introducing him like this, but things don't always work out how they're planned. While I've been gone we got married (which I will tell you all about another time) and headed off on honeymoon. Everything was perfect. We couldn't have been happier or more excited. The first part was to be a tour of the Italian Lakes, the second was a trip to the Seychelles (which it seems wasn't meant to happen). Each hotel and lake was stunning. We spent our time exploring villages looking for local fare with our little convertible Abarth and speedboats. But on our penultimate night things began to unravel; it became obvious he was going to have to have emergency appendix surgery far from home and since then we have been battling through ambulances and hospitals who have very little English and our even poorer Italian. It's been a frightening struggle that neither of us could have foreseen but the experience has shown us how much we love each other, how strong we can be for each other and how much we meant the vows we made so recently to each other. We are finally home and Matthew is making a good recovery. We are so grateful to all the kind staff at Ospedale Castelli Pronto Soccorso that cheerfully helped us patiently with the aid of Google translate! It's normally not my thing to share my private life but I think it's so important that you know that nothing runs smoothly for anyone all the time and if you're struggling with something you're not alone. We are with you.

HERE’S THE BEST REVENGE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BULLIED

HERE’S THE BEST REVENGE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BULLIED

Most of us have been bullied at least once. For some, bullying is just a childish act that we can all let go once we grow up. However, it is important to note that at some extent, bullying can scar one’s life not just physically, but more so mentally and psychologically.

In some morbid movies, those who have been bullied will take revenge in the worst possible way. Have you seen the movie ‘Carrie’? That’s what I am talking about and probably that’s enough reason for us to stop picking on other kids.

But for one man from the Philippines, his tactic was a bit different. As a form of revenge, he decided to change himself.

Read the full post from here.

Dave Villanueva was criticized during his early life for his looks. While he is far from being ugly, our society dictates a standard which I would personally say – absurd. Instead of drowning himself in depression, he made a commitment to make his life better. He changed his lifestyle and took conscious effort to look good. Lo and behold, he does look REALLY GOOD!

You can check his transformation from this Facebook Page.

This story is truly inspiring and a must – share for those who would like to change. Indeed, you need to start with yourself.

Change is actually good! Why not try something different, like an app that can make your life better.

BEWARE OF SKIMMING DEVICE ON ATMs – NO PLACE IS TOTALLY SECURED!

BEWARE OF SKIMMING DEVICE ON ATMs – NO PLACE IS TOTALLY SECURED!

Do you think that ATMs in malls are secured than those that can be found outside?

You are WRONG!

One Netizen actually witnessed a skimming device placed in one of the ATMs inside a famous mall in the Philippines. You can read her post below.

Read the article here.

BE VIGILANT!July 6, 2017, 12:56pm, as i was about to withdraw from the ATM at SM Megamall, i found something suspicious in the card slot. It was a pale green slot part which seems to be detachable and the opening was tighter than usual. I took pictures of it (see photo) and immediately reported it to the branch. After 3hrs, the branch called me and confirmed that the suspicious part is a SKIMMING DEVICE.

For our PeN pals, make sure you do the following before you consider transacting on an ATM.

  1. Check if there is something unusual about the machine
  2. Report it right away and go!
  3. Always be vigilant and see if someone seems to be watching you
  4. Avoid transacting at night when it is easier for perpetrators to rob you
  5. Use an app that allows you to send SOS or has an emergency button to lure the ‘bad guys’ away! PeN has that for you.

You can always share your smart tips with us. Do not let these good – for – nothing folks win!
