Farewell, Chris Cornell Dies at 52

The music industry has lost another icon. On May 17, Chris Cornell was found dead in Detroit after his performance with his band, Soundgarden.

On Thursday, a statement was released confirming the cause of the death.

“The Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy on 52-year-old Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden musician who died last night in Detroit. The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not yet been completed. There is no additional information at this time.”

According to a source, Chris Cornell’s wife asked a friend to check on his husband. The friend tried to use force to open the door and found the singer dead in his bathroom.

Prior to his performance and death, he even posted a tweet saying, ““ finally back to Rock City!!!! “.

The singer was known to have struggled with substance abuse.

The PeN team is deeply saddened by this news. We hope that the issues of substance abuse will be taken more seriously by the society. We don’t want more lives to be taken away by these little yet deadly enemies.
