Another killer disease has been spreading fear among the local residents of a major city in the Philippines.

Not long after the H5N6 Avian Flu strain was confirmed in Pampanga, health officials have also started to warn its residents about another possible outbreak. A deadly disease that can be acquired from mosquitoes, the Japanese encephalitis .

Hence, Japanese encephalitis vaccines have been consistently running out of stock after an alarming record of patients have increased. 4 patients were confirmed dead while 62 more cases are being observed.

Japanese encephalitis’ common symptoms include headache, irritability, sudden fever, nausea, vomiting and stiff neck.


Mental status changes are also expected to change while seizures are inevitable especially on younger patients.

To avoid the disease, avoiding places with mosquitoes and availing the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine are important. Cleaning the entire community and using eucalyptus and lemon oils could also prevent mosquito bites.

Immediately visit the hospital once a case of Japanese encephalitis virus is suspected.
